Sad to Say

Our first $1 fundraiser did not raise anything.

Not a single dollar and this does pain me.

But I am determined to buy one lucky person a house by the end of the year. 

Or help pay for many peoples mortgages.

Proud to Announce

That the Riley Rose Organization will be holding their FIRST $1 Fundraiser for the Home For Rose project.

The start date will be the 20th of December
(10/20/09)

It will start at Midnight and will run all day until Midnight again which means its a full 24 hours of fun.

We currently still have a total balance of ... zero but no fear I know that we will make something on the 20th.

So pass on the message of the fundraiser to your friends and family and lets make a difference during this holiday season.

A hard week that draws on

Its been a hard week mentally mostly.

I have seen so many people out in the rain askng for money. I have donated what I can to them but I always drive away wondering where they will sleep tonight. How warm will they be? Will they sleep with a full stomach or toss and turn from hunger.

And every night I go home and think of ways to make Home For Rose reach people. People that will hear my mission and feel the same way I do about the homeless.

Because thats exactly what Im trying to stop. But it will take more then a hope and a dream. It will take all of us banding together as one.

I met a lovely woman the other day at work that has seen the impact that Breast Cancer can have. He mother was a survivor. But as she was fighting for her life she lost the fight for her home and ended up losing it. How is it that we can let this happen?

Just remember as you go about your day. Those men and women on the street are someones mother, father, child, brother, aunt ... if we cant reach out to them who will?

Postsecret.com

I look at post secret every Sunday. 


It just so happens I looked back on it now and noticed the hit counter and noticed the huge numbers of followers on Twitter and the number of people that have visited the site since it was posted a little over 24 hours ago.

Thats when I realized.


Thats 291,608,648 people combined. Now I assume all the people following on Twitter and looking at the actually site so for simplicity we will just go by the visitor count.


If everyone that visited Postsecret today donated just one dollar we could buy 1,157 people a 250,00 dollar home.


Or we could help pay for 144,692 mortgages that are 2,000 dollars.


Wow its crazy to put into numbers what one dollar could do for peoples lives.

My Mission

So what exactly is Home for Rose you ask?


Home For Rose started as a project to raise money to help people in need either buy a home or to help pay for their house payments until they got back on there feet.


But as I was driving home from work I was thinking. 
(In California you have a lot of time to do this since there is usually always traffic on the freeways.) 
Why not start by helping people that really need it. People that cant work? People that are fighting for their lives everyday they open their eyes to a new day. Thats when it hit me what I could really do with the Home For Rose project. 


I could help people with breast cancer. People fighting it and people surviving it. 


Breast cancer is something that I have felt and still feel passionate about fighting and hopefully one day curing the world of. 


But for now that only thing I can do... we can do, is make the fight a little more easy by helping where most people need help today.


With the economy down the way it is in the United States many people are loosing their homes. And with the added medical bills and the loss of the ability to work women, and even sometimes men, face when battling this its becoming even less of a reality for them to keep their homes.


My goal with Home for Rose is to help as many people I can around the world sleep a bit easier at night knowing that there are people caring about them and fighting right along side them.
